Daytona Beach

My family spent the beginning of this week staying at a beach side hotel in Daytona.  It was very relaxing.  We all made the agreement not to bring laptops, which are definitely part of our daily lives, because we think that vacations should be out of the ordinary.  We brought our cell phones but only [...]

Happy Father’s Day

This morning my brother and I woke up super early and made breakfast for my parents.  This has been a family tradition for years (each Mother’s day and Father’s day).  I missed Mother’s day this year [May Term], so breakfast this morning was particularly special.  It’s been great being at home with my family after [...]

Home, Sweet Home

My mom picked me up Saturday at 11:35 a.m. when my flight arrived in Orlando.  We then rushed to Eustis, FL to attend our annual Lake Yale retreat.  I made it JUST in time for the workshop in which I had to speak.  I walked (well, ran, actually) in as they were passing out handouts.  Thank [...]

Some Thoughts

It was a blessing to spend time with my parents while they were here.  It’s always hard for me to say bye to them though.  I think it gets harder and harder each time.  I guess I’m finally starting to understand how much they’ve done for me these past 19 years.
On another note, I’d like [...]

My Parents are Here!

Need I say anymore? =)
Well, I can say more.  My parents are actually here for the Mission Conference at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.  After their meeting tonight they came to Covenant and met some of my friends.  We then went downtown with my friend Maggie.  It was great because the rain stopped and the weather was amazing, [...]

Prayer Request

My dad just left for China this morning.  Please pray for safe travels and safety while he is in China.  He’s also been a bit disoriented lately due to lack of sleep (he’s been very busy-lots to do), so prayer for clarity of mind and good health will also be appreciated.  Thanks!

“You Give and Take Away”

A couple days ago I decided that I was going to blog about all the things God has been taking away from me and how I’ve been struggling with it.  As I was thinking about it, I realized that even though He took away a lot, he has been giving back ten-fold of what He [...]

Thanksgiving

This may seem a little strange to you, but Thanksgiving isn’t a mini family reunion for me.  I’ve never had a Thanksgiving dinner with just my immediate family nor have I had it with grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins.  I’ve attended predominantly Asian churches all my life and we’ve always had Thanksgiving dinner with our [...]

Home for Break

I was lucky enough to get to go home for fall break.  Going to college really helps you learn to appreciate your family.  I haven’t really been homesick since I’ve been at school (which, I believe, is due to all the prayers people have been saying for me).  I’ve definitely missed home though!  I missed [...]
