My Story
My name is Jessica and I’m currently a sophomore at Covenant College, majoring in Community Development and Sociology. (Maybe minoring in Economics or Psychology).
Now moving to a different spectrum, my story isn’t really my story. My story involves the lives of those who have impacted me the most–my family.
I was born in Nanjing, China and moved to College Station, TX with my parents when I was two. My little brother, Jerry, was born there in 1992. My family then moved to Columbus, OH so that my dad could get his post-doc degree at Ohio State University. Then in 2001 my dad was called to become a pastor, so our family moved down to Orlando, FL so that my dad could attend RTS.
My dad currently works as a part-time pastor at my home church, Orlando Chinese Evangelical Christian Church, and part-time as the Chinese Dept. Coordinator for Third Millenium Ministries. Just this year he became an official teaching elder of the PCA. My mom works part-time for Chinese Christian Internet Mission (CCIM) and part-time at Campus Crusade for Christ. My brother, Jerry, is a junior in high school this year and he’s probably the best little brother anybody could ask for.
I’ve attended public school all my life until now and if I had a choice I would do it all over again. I was baptized when I was 10, but I don’t think I was able to enjoy or understand the full capacity of my relationship with Jesus until my middle school years. Moving around so much has really taught me to depend on God for everything I need: company, care, love, strength, and courage. My parent’s self sacrifice for each other and their loyalty in serving our Heavenly Father has inspired me to do the same in my life.
